Christine began her formal exploration of cheese in 1998 working the retail counter at the original Central Market in Austin, TX. What began as a “pay the bills” job quickly turned into a thrilling journey exploring and selling hundreds of the world’s best cheeses and teaching classes in the renowned Central Market Cooking School.
Christine continued her exploration of cheese working with Anco Fine Cheese as a trainer in Texas and with metro-Portland, OR based DPI Northwest doing Cheese Marketing and Education. In her years working with distributor/importers, Christine shared the wonders of specialty and artisan cheese with corporate salespeople, retailers and foodservice clients through newsletters, Guided Tastings and her interactive educational program, The Cheese Immersion.
In 2004, Christine’s passion for sharing the wonders of great cheese inspired her to create Cheese Chick® LLC, a boutique Cheese Education and Marketing company, through which she works with cheesemakers, retailers and consumers, to promote understanding of one of nature’s most intriguing foods.
Fascinated by food, writing, photography and film, Christine produces a suite of sites including Cheese Chick Chat and Cheese Chick TV. The sites feature creative educational content, recipes and video, including Meet Your Maker video segments and the 10 part Cheese in Depth series first featured in Christine’s monthly cheese column in the Oregon Wine Press.
Christine serves as President of the American Cheese Society, the cheese industry’s premier professional organization. In 2010, she was inducted into the Guilde Internationale des Fromagers at the rank of Garde et Juré.
A native of Bethlehem, PA, Christine now savors cheese and life in Scottsdale, AZ with her husband, Matt and cheese-loving sons Aiden and Will. She’s a graduate of Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA, with a degree in English.
